Our Church
In 1898, Henderson Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church was organized under the leadership of Bishop B.W. Arnette. The bishop commissioned Rev. Bridges to organize an A.M.E. Church in Wellsburg. Rev. Bridges, missionaries John and Crissy Mashon, and a group of local people attended that first meeting.
Our Motto
Bishop Daniel A. Payne proposed to the 1856 General Conference of the African Methodist Episcopal Church convening in Cincinnati, Ohio that the episcopal seal should include the denominational creedal statement, God Our Father, Christ Our Redeemer, Man Our Brother.
